Hexham FC Junior round up (28-29 January 2012)

Hexham u13's hosted Blaydon on a cold and frosty January morning in the 3rd round of the Pinpoint League Cup. The game going ahead was touch and go with the frost not budging due to lack of morning sunshine. Both teams agreed that the pitch was in a playable condition and they were more than right with a great morning's football taking place. Hexham ran out comfortable winners and progress through to the next round where they are sure to face League 1 or 2 sides, thus testing there metal further as they aim to progress all the way in this year's League Cup competition. Dominic Weller was awarded man of the match for his excellent performance at the heart of the Hexham midfield.

The only other team to survive the frost was the Hexham u14's who had a tough match away at Wallsend BC Yellows. Straight from the kick off Hexham went behind and they needed a penalty save from Jack Dobbing to keep them in the match very soon after going behind. Bradley Lowes equalised for Hexham after twenty five minutes after good work from Patrick McLoughlin and Andrew Knotts.

Alnwick Town Res 2-6 Hexham

The longest road trip of the season for the Tyne Valley side on Saturday did not daunt them as they produced one of the best performances of the season and came home with three well deserved points. Alnwick are a good side and they play the ball about well but Hexham took the bull by the horns and after only fourteen minutes they were two goals in front. Scott Robson started the goal spree when he converted a Neil Tiffin inch perfect pass and when Paul McLean caught a Thomas North corner on the half volley to drill it past bemused home keeper Michael Armstrong Hexham were flying. Neil McFall pulled one back for Alnwick from a free kick on the twenty minute mark to give Hexham a few nervous moments but the two goal advantage was restored when Ali Stobbs got the first of his goal of the day when Armstrong could only parry a Scott Robson shot, Ali was razor sharp to make sure the ball crossed the line. Alnwick tried manfully to get back into the game but this was to be Hexham's half and as the pressure increased on the home goal a flailing arm was stuck with the ball from a Mark Gibson cross, referee Darren Thomas had an easy decision to make and point to the spot.

Hexham FC Junior Roundup (21-22 January 2012)

Hexham u10 Whites kept up their title challenge with a 3-1 victory over Throckley Magpies. A late change of home pitch due to HMS being waterlogged did not affect the whites as Robert Singer, Steven Heslop and Findlay Baty scoring for the whites.

Both Hexham u11 Greens and Whites were back in action in the NEYDL and both got a reward. The Greens were at Cramlington and enjoyed a comfortable win to maintain their joint third place in the table with Killingworth and West Denton.
The White's had a thrilling match with mid table Tynemouth Yellows and came home with a creditable draw but with a little more luck could have all three points. It ended as a goalless but everyone who saw the encounter could not help to have been entertained

Hexham FC Junior Roundup 7-8 Jan 2012

A rain hit County cup weekend for Hexham which brought about mixed fortunes for their teams. After the heavy rain earlier in the week Dukeshouse was unavailable so thanks to some accommodating opponents matches were reversed or swapped to other pitches at short notice.

Hexham u11 Greens enjoyed a close victory against Corbridge, as always it's a tight encounter against United and at half time the score line proved this with both sides locked together goalless . With two closely matched sides it was always going to take a special goal to win this West Division semi-final and it came from a Will Roberts thunderbolt free kick, a tremendous effort. Patrick Lally won the MotM and he and the rest of the team will have to be on top form when the final comes around later in the year against Wylam Apollo.

Harton & Westoe 0-1 Hexham

Due to the weather Hexham had an extended festive break and just to start the New Year with a bang the Northern Alliance fixture secretary thought second placed Harton & Westoe would be suitable test to begin 2012. Not wanting to disappoint the Tyne valley outfit produced a result which raised more than a few eyebrows amongst other Northern Alliance teams. On possession Harton maybe just shaded it over the ninety minutes but they never used this time to hurt the visitors.

Hexham keeper Dave Anderson

Captain Gavin Cox was inspirational marshalling the defence and this spread throughout the side and no one let the side down. Hexham were defiantly the better side in the opening half taking the lead after twenty three minutes, some excellent work by Mark Gibson when he beat a couple of players just outside the box and laid on a perfect pass to Ali Stobbs. There was still some work to do but Stobbs calmly slotted his shot past home keeper Greenan to give Hexham the lead which they never relinquished. The pace of Harton was always a threat but Anderson in the Hexham goal looked comfortable all afternoon, the only major alarm was of his own doing but the heavy pitch played a big part in the incident.

Hexham FC Junior Round up 3-4 December 2011

It took 17 minutes to break the deadlock in the derby match between the Hexham u10 Greens and Whites. With a tactical substitution Calum Armstrong came off the bench after 17 minutes for the whites and scored two goals in five minutes to take them into half time 2-0 up. Ten minutes into the 2nd half Calum struck again to claim a hatrick. Two minutes later Man of the Match Logan Fawcett scored a fantastic goal chipping the goal keeper at the back post from a right wing shot. With a pass from Finlay Baty, Logan added a 2nd five minutes before the end to complete victory for the whites the Whites. Jack Kilby stared in defence and Sam Peter in goal for the Greens.

Due to the inclement weather at the weekend only Saturday games got the go ahead and Hexham u11 Whites managed to play at league leaders Ponteland Pumas. In the face of a howling wind the whites performed well in an entertaining game . They lost the match 1-4 but really played their part, MotM was Loui Charlton and Tom Robson got a truly memorable individual goal

Hexham 3-4 Willington Quay Saints

This third round tie in the Northumberland FA Minor Cup had an explosive start with five goals in the first fourteen minutes. The low winter sun played a major part in the proceedings but the eight absentees from the Hexham squad did not help the cause either. In the first minute Dave Anderson in the home goal was in the right place at the right time to block an effort but he was powerless to stop the first goal moments later after sloppy defending. Straight away Hexham were back into the tie when a right wing corner was flicked on by Stephen Brown and Liam Heenan bravely stuck his head amongst flailing boots to force the ball over the line.

Stephen Brown flicks on to Liam Heenan for Hexham's opening goal

Almost from the kick off Paul McLean fired Hexham in to the lead with a powerful drive that Willington goal keeper Carl Henderson could only observe as is crashed into the net. But in a comical opening period the Saints were level with the Hexham defence struggling in the low winter sun but to complete the farcical start Hexham produced a goal to be proud of. It was Kurtis Harvey who was enjoying his first start in a while arriving at the back post to meet a low hard cross from Thomas North to regain the advantage for Hexham.

Opening of Hexham Football centre

It was a fantastic day for the members of Hexham Football Club on Saturday (26th Nov 11) when their brand new football centre was opened. This facility has been in the planning stage for what seems like ages but to see the finished article it was well worth the wait.

The centre comprises of 2 junior pitches a floodlit training area with a club meeting room and kitchen with changing facilities for players and match officials. The final cost of the development was a mind boggling £872,000 which was found by a massive donation from the Football Foundation and also a large sum from Northumberland County Council.

Hexham FC Junior Round up 19-20 Nov 2011

Hexham u10 Whites maintained their push up the table with a comfortable win at Prudhoe, Logan Fawcett grabbed two and one each for Finlay Baty, Steven Heslop, Calum Armstrong & William Scott. While the Hexham u10 Greens took on table topping Stocksfield and put on a good performance despite losing 0-3

Bad day at the office for the Hexham Whites u11's at Newcastle East End with their worst performance of the season, conceding six without reply. Better time for defender Brandon Coleman who was awarded his first MotM of the season

The NEYDL under 12 table is looking good at the minute with Hexham u12 in joint second place, this is no doubt due to the tremendous run of six wins in a row. A goal in each half secured the points with Max Pearson scoring first then George cook netting in the second half. Clean sheet for Hexham was in some part due to some tenacious tackling from MotM Louis Domingue

Hexham 3-1 New Fordley

November has been a good month for Northern Alliance Hexham with two wins and a draw in all competitions. In fact the last time they suffered a defeat was when first division Cramlington Town were at the Wentworth in the Bill Gardner Trophy in mid October. The opponents on Saturday was New Fordley who inflicted Hexham's only league defeat all season when a below par Hexham lost two late goals to lose 2-3 back in early September.

So revenge was in the air from the first whistle and almost immediately Ali Stobbs used his power and pace to break through the defence and round the keeper only to see his effort cleared by a defender tracking back. That set the tone for the first half with Hexham dominating but never really causing the visitors any real problems with a real lack of goal scoring opportunities. New Fordley have had a big change in personnel since the match earlier in the season with no less than seven changes to the starting eleven and more on the bench.

Hexham FC Junior Round up 12-13 Nov 2011

Thanks to heavy overnight rain the Hexham u11 Greens were fortunate that Newcastle EE could reverse the fixture as Dukeshouse was waterlogged. That kindness was forgotten very soon as Seth Kippax-Jones went on a four goal rampage and when James Bowes also netted East End were wondering if their decision was a wise one. But thanks to the Newcastle side for their cooperation

The Hexham Whites u11were also in Newcastle this time at Killingworth Rockets and on a very wet pitch a goal in each half for the hosts meant it was a fruitless trip for the Whites. But it was a good performance from the Whites compounded by a MotM display by Loui Charlton

Hexham u12's managed to play on a tacky pitch against Seaton Delaval Dresdon and were delighted that their effort to get the game paid off. A first half penalty from Will Shrimpton gave them the lead at Half time. In the second half MotM Elliot Jeffries got on the score sheet and with goals from Max Pearson and Jonathon Carr ensured the u12's secured the fifth victory in the last five outings to maintain their third spot in the table

Wideopen 2-4 Hexham

Over the seasons Lockley Park home of Wideopen has been a sparse hunting ground for the players from the Tyne Valley. Really Hexham have saved up some horrific performances in years past but this season that hoodoo has been firmly laid to rest. Instead a solid team effort despite missing several regular players but the strength in depth of the squad was proven once again. The teams around them all gained maximum points so these points may prove important later in the season.

Man of the Match Neil "Butch" Tiffin

Neil Tiffin got the show on the road when he fired in from the edge of the area when a corner was not cleared and he was prowling eighteen yards out after twenty two minutes. The game up to that point had been nip and tuck so Neil's second goal in his last two games game his side a well timed lift. Only eight minutes after the breakthrough leading Hexham marksman Liam Heenan got his first goal of two in the match. Again Tiffin had a part in this goal playing a ball into space behind the defenders and Heenan was onto it before shooting past Wideopen keeper Iain Gray as he came off his line.

Hexham FC Junior Round up 5-6th Nov

Two goals from Sam Bush and Dylan Blaylock who got his first goal of the season for Hexham u11 Whites kept the whites in mid table in the NEYDL. With Killingworth Jets only getting one in reply the points were very welcome

To complete a good day for the Hexham u11 at Killingworth the greens beat the Rockets 5-2 to go to the top of the table. MotM Alex Wood got a hat trick and one each for Will Turnbull and Vinny Proudlock. The greens were five goals up before going to sleep and conceding two late goals

A pulsating match for the Hexham u12's at Prudhoe Yellows, they just edged out the yellows by the odd goal in eleven. The goals were spread out in pairs for George Cook, Bradley Wilson and Elliot Jeffries who also claimed the MotM.

Stobswood Utd 2-8 Hexham

A break from Northern Alliance fixtures this week as Hexham went into the pot for the NFA Minor Cup. This competition brings teams from the Alliance, Tyneside Amatuer, North Northumberland and Christian Fellowship League so it's a real mix of teams with facilities and a large range of abilities. Hexham pulled out of the hat Stobswood Utd who last season played as Lynemouth Anglers but have moved to Stobswood to take advantage of the excellent facilities at the Welfare ground. With a number of games postponed due to heavy overnight rain the Welfare pitch got the go ahead but had the downpour continued this would also have been in doubt.

The pitch was heavy and very treacherous for the players and cut up very easily. Early in the game it was evident Hexham had the upper hand as the kept the ball well and stretched the North Northumberland side across the pitch and on thirteen minutes Neil Tiffin got his first goal of the season latching on to a loose ball in the box after a corner. That did not open the floodgates and all Hexham had to show for their pressure was a good effort from Mark Gibson before. Keeper Dave Anderson mainly had tidying up duties to perform but he pull off a top class save after twenty five minutes palming away a dipping corner which was creeping in.

Hexham FC Junior Round up 29-30 Oct

A hat trick for Hexham u10 White's Logan Fawcet knocked Wylam Dynamo for six and he was ably assisted by MotM Calum Armstrong who also chipped in with a couple of goals. Finlay Baty finished off the goal scorers as the Whites got back into winning ways

Hexham u11 Greens kept up the pressure on the top of the NEYDL with a comfortable win over Killingworth YPC Jets at the Hexham Football Centre. Two goals each for Seth Kippax-Jones, Michael Watts and Joe Anderson and a single strike from Vinney Proudlock along with a MotM performance from Mark Hodgson kept Seaton Burns lead at the top of the table to one point

Hexham u11 Whites were slow out of the blocks on Saturday when they went a goal behind in the first minute against West Denton. They never recovered from this shock and went on to lose the game. Plus point for the Whites was the performance of Tom Robson who clinched the MotM

Hexham u12 provided a gritty performance to take all the points in a very tight encounter with Prudhoe Reds. A goal from Patrick Dryden was enough to blow the title chase wide open again .Louis Domingue was the MotM against a skilful Prudhoe side in a game which could have gone either way
