Dukeshouse was due to hold the two derby matches at the weekend with both the Hexham under 8 and under 11's greens and whites were scheduled to lock horns. But the Friday night downpour put paid to any chance of playing.
Hexham U12's went down to their first league defeat since September, against a resurgent Prudhoe Yellows. In a game of 2 halves, influenced by the wind, slack defending and opportunist attacking put Prudhoe 4-0 up at the break. It took a Callum Snowdon effort half way through the second period to get Hexham back in the game but a further goal from Joff Carr was all the visitors could muster. Dan Ridley was Hexham's man of the match for his determined defending and creative passing.
Hexham kept up their recent good run of form with a hard fought bruising encounter on the road at Willington Quay. This was not the best of performances but a rock solid defence and a goal in each half was enough to take the points. The saints have had a excellent run in the Northumberland FA Minor Cup and are due to take on Newcastle Chemfica in the semi final soon but there league form has suffered recently and have slipped down the table. Hexham were slow to start and it was Thomas North who got the show on the road creating chances for the visitors down the left flank for both Ali Stobbs and Jamie Peel, but on both occasions saint's keeper Carl Henderson pulled off good saves. Centre half Graeme Turner was next to try and break the deadlock but his header was cleared off the line with Henderson beaten. It was a scrappy game and the pitch did not help matters with the players not sure where the bounce would take it when played to feet and the traditional coast road gale playing its normal tricks the game was not one for the purists. But these are the games Hexham have to win if they are going to progress and the breakthrough came after thirty minutes, Thomas North played the ball to Jamie Peel and once Jamie had returned the favour North was in an ideal position to place the ball past the keeper for a very well taken goal.
The semi final of the West Division Cup under 10 was decided by only one goal and that came from MotM for Hexham Whites Oliver Fairless. It was a very close game but that single strike was enough for the Whites to reach the final against Corbridge on 3rd March
Hexham u13's kept up the pressure at the top of the Pinpoint second division table with an excellent 4-0 victory over close rivals North Shields. This win took them level on points with North Shields but goal difference ensured that Hexham leap frogged their opponents into second place. The weather still is playing havoc with the fixtures and this game had to be reversed at very late notice, but two goals from Ryan Gardner and one each for Luke Allman and Jake Dunlop earned the points for Hexham. The MotM award was not as clear cut as the score and it was impossible to separate Matthew Charteries and midfield man Tom Jepson so it was agreed to be shared
Situated in the heart of the Roman Wall country, Haltwhistle is an ideal location for 'off road' distance runners and walkers who like a challenge in outstanding landscapes.
The Haltwhistle Challenge is a 26 mile cross country event which takes place on Saturday 19th May. The Challenge for walkers is to complete the course within 11 hours whilst runners will be hand-timed. There are no prizes for the fastest finishers.

The challenge starts and finishes in Haltwhistle and takes advantage of the varied scenery to the north and south of the town. It includes a section along the Hadrian's Wall footpath, an exposed moorland section of the Pennine Way, a crossing of the much photographed Lambley Viaduct before a low level return past Featherstone Castle along the South Tyne valley. The event takes place during lambing time, so no dogs are allowed.
The route uses public rights of way with traditional signposts and way markers. At key points there will be route marshals and extra route signs. Basic navigational skills are necessary and all Starters will be provided with route descriptions and a control card that must be punched at compulsory control points.
Hexham u13's hosted Blaydon on a cold and frosty January morning in the 3rd round of the Pinpoint League Cup. The game going ahead was touch and go with the frost not budging due to lack of morning sunshine. Both teams agreed that the pitch was in a playable condition and they were more than right with a great morning's football taking place. Hexham ran out comfortable winners and progress through to the next round where they are sure to face League 1 or 2 sides, thus testing there metal further as they aim to progress all the way in this year's League Cup competition. Dominic Weller was awarded man of the match for his excellent performance at the heart of the Hexham midfield.
The only other team to survive the frost was the Hexham u14's who had a tough match away at Wallsend BC Yellows. Straight from the kick off Hexham went behind and they needed a penalty save from Jack Dobbing to keep them in the match very soon after going behind. Bradley Lowes equalised for Hexham after twenty five minutes after good work from Patrick McLoughlin and Andrew Knotts.
