It doesn't matter who you are or where you come from - if you are around 10 years old then there is absolutely nothing in life that is better than a game of football. This was undoubtedly proved this week when a couple of 10 year old boys from Belarus proudly captained two teams made up of Hexham FC's under 11 squad in a friendly match, organised by the team coaches Andy and Stephen Turnbull, at the club's brand new Dukeshouse Wood facility.

The two captains, Ura and Dima, are staying with the family of Patrick Lally, one of the Hexham FC players, as part of a visit arranged by the Chernobyl Children's Life

Ofsted inspectors, led by HMI Derek Neil, were very impressed by one of Hexham's first schools. They said about St Mary's First School: "This is a good school". They concluded it had made considerable progress since its last inspection and had many strengths.
Good, with many outstanding features, is the overall judgement the inspectors left behind. They quoted a typical parental comment: "The school has made huge improvements to creative teaching, communications and the building. I am very happy with the education and care my children receive."
At the end of April this year Flashlight films spent two days shooting footage for a music video for a new Tyneside based band called 'So What Robot'.
What was to make this video special was the incorporation of some very detailed special effects.

The video was directed by Matthew Brown of Flashlight Films and it was also his editing skills that have resulted in another spectacular music video that is guaranteed to bring a smile to all who watch it.
The song is titled ' A Girl Who Reads' and the video centres around a young woman trying to relax in her flat by reading a book.
However, when she opens the first book animated cut outs of the band appear in the pages, the fun continues from there.
The club is so big now it is impossible to find a venue big enough to hold the all the playing members, parents and supporters, which always proves a major headache for event organiser Hilary Norton and her team of helpers .

With all the logistical associated problems that follow on with an event of this nature, quite a few sleepless nights were experienced before deciding that the venue for the 2010-11 annual presentation night would be the main hall at Queen Elizabeth High School. This proved an excellent choice with the evening run in two parts.
