Hexham u9 v Prudhoe Yellows
The last game of the season was the league title decider at Hexham on Saturday. Whoever won this last game would lift the League trophy. Hexham got of to a fantastic start with a goal straight from the kick-off, with some slick passing ending in a Robert Singer goal.
With the nerves settled super sub Nathan Carr added the 2nd on 17 minutes. After the break 1st half keeper Steven Heslop added a 3rd before the big lads from Prudhoe managed a goal after a wicked deflection from a good cross.

The season drew to a close as it began for Hexham with a Northern Alliance fixture against Seaton Burn. This campaign began in August sunshine and the Wentworth managed to reproduce this feat as the game kicked off in similar conditions but this time there was a swirling wind which did have an effect on the proceedings.

Due to the freezing winter we have experienced Hexham have played seventeen games in only ten weeks which in itself is an achievement and on this final day they still turned out a strong side despite the team having serious injury problems. It was a typical end of season start to the game with both sides not at full pace but after ten minutes emergency full back Darren Dobson changed all that.
Last trip away on the road for Hexham midweek, when they travelled to take on League champions elect Newcastle Chemfica at the University site Cochrane Park. The facilities are superb and even though it was a rock hard dry pitch Hexham played some excellent one touch football.
They took an early lead when this season's top goal scorer Sean Henderson broke free from his marker Phillip Tweddle and he shot across the face of home keeper Craig Sones into the opposite side of the goal. This was after only ten minutes and Hexham carried on in this vein of form for the remainder of the half.
Richard Lonnogne was the next man to test Sones in the home goal with a header and almost immediately Liam Heenen had him scrambling across his goal before this effort hit the post and ran away to safety. At this point it was hard to distinguish which team was league champions and which side was languishing in the lower part of mid table.
Hexham is well known for its Anglo-Saxon remains, centred on the crypt underneath the present Abbey church. Their mark on the wider landscape is far less clear but clues remain.
The Hexham Local History Society's treasurer, Dr. Greg Finch, will talk about the landscape of Anglo-Saxon settlement in Hexhamshire at the society's monthly meeting, next Tuesday, 17th May. Part of a wider study of the Hexhamshire landscape, Greg's talk makes extensive use of maps to focus on historical settlement and land use patterns to construct a theory regarding the nature of the early English occupation of the district.
The talk takes place at the Trinity Methodist Church Hall on Beaumont Street Hexham at 7.30pm. This talk replaces the originally planned address by Dr. Angus Winchester who has had to postpone his visit. Non-members are also welcome at a cost of £2, which includes light refreshments. Further details are available from the Secretary on 01434 601237.
Flashlight Films recently spent two days shooting footage for what is going to be another spectacular music video for a new Tyneside based band, 'So What Robot'.

The first day was spent on location at an apartment in Gateshead which served as an appropriate set for the storyline for the video. The filming was centred around a young woman in her flat who had some difficulties in settling down to read a book. Over the day Flashlight Films used tracking equipment, resulting in a range of shots that give a particular feel and perspective to this video.
What is a musical nappuccino I hear you ask...
Well quite simply, it's a musical extravaganza celebrating Real Nappy Week 2011.
As a branch we are committed to bringing our parents something new and exciting, and this year sees the launch of our first ever nappuccino, on Friday 20th May.
In collaboration with Grow up Green and Musical Minis, the day will include a cloth nappy demo, free baby musical session, as well as photography by Sarah Loveland Photography, stalls and refreshments. And best still, the event is completely free.
So if you would like to know more about cloth nappies, or would like to change the brand/type you are using, come along from 11 - 1pm to Corbridge Parish Hall and enjoy the celebrations.
For more information and to book your place (numbers are limited so please contact us to avoid disappointment) email hexham@nct.org.uk or call Natalie on 01661 844596
This result has been coming for some time for Hexham and unfortunately for Cramlington it occurred against them. The goal chances Hexham have created in the recent weeks which were spurned were all accepted with gratitude by an impressive home outfit. One player made all the headlines in the match was midfield man Michael Robson who claimed four of the goals even though the dubious goals panel might have had something to say about his third effort. However the whole team deserved credit with a great all round performance. The early morning sunshine was replaced by a heavy rainfall just on kick-off time, which was a welcome sight for the rock hard Wentworth surface.

The match started off quite lethargic with both teams subdued. It took a back post header from skipper Gavin Cox to bring the team to life from a deep corner but from there on it was a lively affair.
With the Easter holidays coming to an end not many of the club teams were playing this weekend. Two of our sides were also taking part in the Skegness Easter tournament. The under 12s had a fruitless journey to Whitley Coast Soccer but some of the club's other teams fared a little better.
Hexham Greens u10 v Wylam Tynedale
Brand new goals for tonight's match and by half time the goals were a bit like the weather with everything drying up. Alex Wood continued his fine form with an early solo effort, good run, cutting inside and firing away a good goal bound effort with his left foot. Unfortunately for Alex and the Greens it was matched by a very good save by their GK.
Great effort though.
In fact Hexham did create a number of early opportunities which were thwarted by the keeper with some very impressive saves. Add to that his goal kicks and he was awarded Man of the Match for Wylam. James Watson again was solid in defence without having to do anything spectacular which is all the team can ask so again well done. Edward Atherton held his position well and responded quickly when the coaches asked him to cover various positions.
