Public enjoy Queen Elizabeth High School garden
Floral themes decorated a school as members of the public were invited in for expert tuition.
Hexham's Queen Elizabeth High School held a demonstration day called Here Comes Summer, where 30 members of the public signed up with the school's community and leisure programme.

Horticulture staff member Emma Thompson talks to keen gardeners
They enjoyed a morning of glorious weather in the QEHS walled garden while horticulture staff member Emma Thompson showed off the hard work that her students and community volunteers put into maintaining the garden.
It holds a spectacular show of perennials and native and exotic blooms which had been on display at the National Gardens Scheme's open day the previous week.
The gardeners have tried to create a quirky garden, with winding paths, hidden ponds, grape vines and sheltered willow arbours. It provided kitchen produce for Hexham's Tynedale Hydropathic Hotel 100 years ago. Meanwhile young NVQ catering students in their first week prepared a buffet lunch.
There was also a flower-arranging display by floral art tutor Anne Codd (pictured). Anne will be running a floral art evening course in the autumn as part of the QEHS community and leisure programme and the next demonstration day, Cracking Christmas Cakes, is based on festive sugarcraft techniques.
