Acomb children on their marks for Great School Run
Children at a small rural school got some professional training ahead of a big cross-country challenge.
The 54 pupils at Acomb First School are once again taking on the Great School Run as part of their packed sports schedule.

And they were lucky enough to be nominated for a pre-run visit from the Great School Run activation tour.
The afternoon led by the GNR team included an aerobic warm-up to music, games and activities, and a mini fun run.
Angela Speed, the Acomb teacher in charge of PE, said: "No doubt this will further demonstrate how much fun sport is and encourage even greater participation.
"Several staff and parents are keen participants in sport including Great North Run events, and are committed to communicating the benefits of an active lifestyle, health, fitness and fun to all the children.
"As a school the children have taken part in the Great School Run since the event began and have met the challenge with great enthusiasm, enjoying the preparation and the event.
"Even the children of on-site Little Oaks nursery join in on the day. It has become a very enjoyable annual event in the school calendar. This year the children are also raising money for the CLIC Sargent children's cancer charity."
The run takes place on June 17 and covers 2km on the school field overlooking the Tyne Valley.
