Video: Tracing Northumberland family history
Family history buffs in Northumberland are turning to the web.
Northumberland County Council produced a video (below) to raise awareness of the facilities available to people wanting to know more about their ancestors.
It was uploaded onto internet video sharing site YouTube and has got more than 12,000 hits.
Coun Isabel Hunter, the council's executive member for culture, said: "I'm glad the video is proving so popular because the internet makes an ideal starting point for this sort of research.
"It's a great way of getting the message across and letting people know what resources are available to them - without having to leave their own home.
"Local history and tracing a family tree are increasingly popular and I hope this fun video can get even more people interested."
People in the county wanting to research their family tree can visit Woodhorn, home to the Northumberland Archives which contain more than 800 years of local history.
