Hexham Farmers' Market wins top award
Hexham Farmers' Market has been recognised as the best in the North.
It will now go forward to the national finals of the annual competition run by the National Farmers' Retail and Markets' Association (Farma).

It is the second time in three years that the market has made it to this stage.
Yesterday, farmers' market coordinator Peter Samsom said: "We're delighted to be shortlisted for the national finals again.
"Our stallholders put a lot of hard work into brining the freshest locally produced products to Hexham and our customers are tremendously loyal.
"So it's great that this joint commitment is being recognised."
The winner is expected to be announced on January 26, 2010, during the Farm & More trade conference in Shropshire.
Hexham Farmers' Market already has an accreditation from Farma which indicates that only genuine farmers and producers growing, rearing and using local produce attend. The market takes place every second and fourth Saturday of the month, but with Boxing Day falling on a Saturday this year, the next market will be held today.
The accolade comes after the 800-year-old Charter market at Morpeth Northumberland won a national award for being environmentally friendly.
Morpeth came out top in the How Green is Your Market competition run by the National Market Traders Federation in collaboration with Friends of the Earth.
