A grandmother who survived breast cancer is organising an event to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

Isobel Johnson, 74, of Hexham, was diagnosed with the disease in 2001 and underwent a mastectomy, but has made a full recovery. The event at the town's Queen Elizabeth High School at 7.30pm on October 14 will include a talk by Dr Ian Hardcastle, from the Northern Institute for Cancer Research at Newcastle University.

There will be entertainment, and a raffle. Tickets cost £7, available from Mrs Johnson on (01434) 602134 or Carol Bennett on 07899 968336.

We'd like to hear from you.
