Special poetry event at Hexham Library
Heroes and heroines of Northumberland will be celebrated at a special event in one of the county's libraries next month.
National Poetry Day - which is on October 8 - will be marked at Hexham Library by North East poet Keith Armstrong.
He will be reciting several of his poems which are linked to the day's theme, and there will also be an open slot for other local poets to contribute with readings of their work.
Keith, who has been a self-employed writer since 1986, has had his work published in magazines such as New Statesman, Poetry Review, Dream Catcher, Other Poetry , Salzburg Poetry Review and Poetry Scotland.
It has also featured in the collections The Jingling Geordie, Dreaming North, Pains of Class and Imagined Corners, as well and on radio and TV.
He is currently the coordinator of the Northern Voices creative writing scheme.
People are being encouraged to come along to the event at Hexham Library to listen or join in.
It will be held between 12.30pm and 1.30pm and tickets can be booked in advance by calling the library on (01434 6524).
Admission costs ã2.50 if booked in advance or ã3 for people who want to pay on the door.
We'd like to hear from you. Send your stories, pics and videos to northumberland@ncjmedia.co.uk
