Kelly Hat-trick seals fine win for Hexham Girls

Posted by Hexham FC on Sep 24, 09 09:20 PM in Sport

Despite an early injury to Enya Mason Hexham Under 14 Girls got straight into the match right from the first whistle and took the game to Newbiggin Hall, not giving them any time on the ball and tearing into tackles on their tight pitch.

Hexham quickly got on the score sheet with goals from Kelly Loughhead and Layla Zahawi. Rhiannon Castle then got in on the action with a goal of her own followed by further goals from Loughhead and Zahawi to put Hexham 5-0 up at half time.

After half time a number of players had their chance to score, Roisin Edwards hitting the woodwork on two occasions, one from a well taken direct free-kick that crashed against the cross bar. Georgina Callf also had a great chance to score only to be denied by a last ditch tackle.

Midfielders Stephanie Chapman, Marie McLoughlin and Elizabeth Yates were all doing really well, tackling hard and playing their passing game to great effect. Goals continued to come in the second half with Rhiannon Castle getting her second of the day and Kelly Loughhead netting her hat trick; confidently thumping the ball into the roof of the net.

Rosin Edwards also scored after she shot across goal and a Newbiggin Hall defender could do no more than turn the ball into her own net.

Keeper Hope Lowdon again did everything that was asked of her, saving bravely at the feet of Newbiggin Hall attackers on a number of occasions.

Sophie Scott, Bex Knight and Ellie Harris defended well as a unit, covering for one another and playing each other out of trouble when they had to. Their clean sheet was well deserved.

Hexham were on top from start to finish and thoroughly deserved this win.
