Tynedale leisure centre staff to compete in swim
Northumbrian leisure centre staff will be competing alongside 5,000 swimmers at the British Gas Great North Swim.
Staff from North Country Leisure's head office, Wentworth Leisure Centre and Prudhoe Waterworld will all be putting on their swimming outfits for the popular event.
After a hugely successful launch last year, the Great North Swim will take place over two days, September 12 and 13 to accommodate the large numbers.
The event takes place at Windermere in Cumbria and will see both elite athletes and amateur swimmers taking part in the one-mile swim, in water temperatures of 17 degrees or lower.
Julia Roberts, training assistant with NCL is taking part.
She said: " This event is a great way for grass roots swimmers to have a go at open water swimming and maybe raise some money for charity."
