One point each at the Wentworth
Hexham 1 Stobswood Welfare 1
This fixture has a history of close encounters and this match in the Pinpoint Northern Alliance prove no different.
With early season injuries starting to bite into the squad striking options was to prove difficult in this match. New signings Jamie MacNamee and Thomas North were both ruled out and with Iain Strachan still on holiday the only striker available was Tom Phillips.

He only made it after a taking a late decision on his foot injury just before the team sheet had to be given to the referee. Alongside him was Scott Robson who was asked to play in a very unfamiliar role but to his credit he stuck to his task for the entire ninety minutes and took a lot of pressure from his partner's shoulders.
Both sides like to play with the ball on the ground and take the game to their opponents and this showed early on but Hexham looked sharper in the early encounters.
After only five minutes the Tynedale outfit struck on goal, good work from Scott Coates on the wing gave Tom Phillips the opportunity to strike on goal and he made no mistake.
This set Stobswood back and they took their time to recover from this early setback, and Hexham had a couple more chances to increase the lead.
Even though Hexham had the early lead it was a lacklustre performance and the team was strangely quiet and it took Captain Gavin Cox shouting encouragement to keep the side on their toes.
Slowly but surely Stobswood played themselves back into the match.
Michael Hogg was proving a handful for the visitors whilst David King at the back held things secure, not giving the Hexham forwards much opportunity.
Even though Scott Robson was playing an unfamiliar role he was causing problems with his work rate up front. He was unlucky not to score when he got a foot to a ball after the defender was attempting to shepherd the ball back to his keeper, only to see it rebound for a corner.
Not long after that he had the ball in the net when he beat Stobswood keeper Mark Mavin to the ball only to be called back for a free kick to Hexham outside the box.
Stobswood had their moments also when they also had a goal disallowed when a linesman's flag signalled for offside.
Just before half time Hexham keeper Carl Robinson pulled off a magnificent save diving to his right hand side when faced with a one on one situation with Josh Hay. It was down to Carl that Hexham went into the break level.
Stobswood are a good side and they were not going to make life easy for Hexham in the second half and they just kept turning up the pressure on the Hexham back line.
Without creating any clear cut chances they defiantly were having the better of the second period.
Gavin Cox and Graham Turner were having their normal strong dependable game but the defender that stood out this week was Michael Robson who at the tender age of eighteen was showing maturity beyond his years.
This display won him his first man of the match award of the season, never missing a header or a challenge. Also in the middle of the park Neil Tiffin was digging in trying to stem the pressure from Stobswood.
This had been a very quiet performance from Hexham but no one could be blamed as the normal game plan just did not come off. To try and change things Neil Macdonald came on to make his first appearance for the club when Tom Phillips was replaced with fifteen to go on the clock. In the short time he was on the pitch he looked promising.
The last chance for Hexham came when both Neil Tiffin and Orin Parkinson were closing in on goal from a cross and Orin got there first but he could not connect properly and the chance was gone.
But Stobswood kept on going and with only five minutes left on the clock they got their reward for their efforts. It was a pinball goal when a shot from the corner of the area hit a defender and a striker before Josh Hay pounced and brought the game level.
With very little time left on the clock both sides settled for a well earned point apiece.
With no fewer than five of the eight league games drawn on the day Hexham stay in sixth place in the division with a total of eight point from their first five games.
