Free football coaching sessions in Hexham

Football-mad youngsters in Northumberland will be able to try out their skills at a series of free football coaching taster sessions.

Children will benefit from professional coaching at the sessions, courtesy of the Northumberland Football Partnership (NFP).

The NFP will hold sessions, led by the NFP's qualified coaches, in Prudhoe and Hexham, where children from five to 14 can take part.

The first venue will be Prudhoe Football and Sports Centre on Tuesday September 8 between 6pm and 7pm. This session will be suitable for all boys and girls between the ages of five and 12.

Activities will be split up depending on each age group and will include nursery coaching for five to seven year-olds and intermediate coaching for eight to 12- year-olds. Goalkeeping coaching will also be available for those who want it.

The five to 14-year-olds can attend another session at Wentworth Leisure centre, Hexham on Friday September 11, between 4pm-5pm for five to seven year-olds and 5pm-6pm for eight to 14-year-olds.

In addition to the training there will also be full games for 11-14-year-olds, and girls-only coaching for those aged seven to 10. Sessions are outdoors so players will need suitable warm clothing and footwear. Places should be booked.
