Success for Hexham golfer in Open

The Craigmillar Park Open in Edinburgh saw Hexham's Sean Heads (pictured) and James Curry of Prudhoe land top 20 finishes in a 72-hole tournament won after a play-off by Scot Gavin Dear.

Team Northumberland used the tournament as one of their warm-ups for the Northern League season, using the individual scores to compile team totals. They beat Lothians by eight shots.

Morpeth's Craig Penny, the City of Newcastle pair of Phil Ridden and Simon Lee and Westerhope's Ross Crowe also scored for Northumberland.
