Tynedale see off league leaders

Tynedale stretched their home league winning streak to 37 matches on Saturday, seeing off National Two leaders Redruth thanks to three late tries.

Charlie Ingall's early score and Rob Miller's penalty had Tynedale 10-0 to the good, but the visitors grabbed a stranglehold to lead 13-14 at the break.

As time ticked down, Luke Collins' try pushed Redruth's lead to 16-24 - but then back came Tom Borthwick's men, with tries through Jack Smales, Jamie Murray and Eni Gesinde.

Rob Miller had a hand in all three, two scything breaks setting up the final two scores that won Tyne the bonus point.

Tynedale rugby chairman John Shotton offered praise for Miller, but reserved the biggest plaudits for back-rower Jamie Murray.

"Rob came into his own late on and those two breaks really set us moving," said Shotton, "but it was Jamie who stood out overall.

"He just works so hard and he offers himself up all around the park. As time wore down we started to run them a little ragged because we had just stretched them too much."
