Hexham concert returns fiddler to his roots
An award-winning musician is returning to his roots to perform at a concert in Northumberland.
Tom McConville, who was recently crowned Musician of the Year at the BBC Folk Awards, will be at Hexham Community Church on Saturday for an evening of traditional and original Scottish, Irish and English music and song.

Tyneside-born Tom, also known as the Newcastle Fiddler, is a renowned figure on the folk scene and has recently had some of his music broadcast on BBC Radio 2.
The violinist was brought up in the Globe pub, just off Newcastle's Scotswood Road, and with clientele drawn from the Irish and Scottish communities, it was here he first experienced traditional singing and fiddle music.
Pauline Woodhouse, from Hexham Community Church, said: "Tom has played here several times before and the whole community comes to enjoy his music.
"His having recently won Musician of the Year makes having him here even better. His repertoire as the Newcastle Fiddler is also a huge part of the show.
"Everyone is definitely looking forward to welcoming Tom back."
The show starts at 8pm at Hexham Community Church on Beaumont Street, Hexham. Tickets, which cost ã6.50, are available from the Violin Shop, Hencotes, Shalom the Good Book Shop, or the church office.
