A Hexham-based charity which aims to improve the lives of people with disabilities has been given a £5,000 grant by Tynedale Council.

The Hextol Foundation has been awarded £5094 to support its business ventures, Green Box pack and post company in Hexham.

Coun. Terry Robson at Tynedale Council said: "This significant initiative for people with disabilities or other disadvantages is developing other charitable forms of support as required.

"The work and success of Green Box provides unique on-the-job training and is the first of several such ventures run by the Hextol Foundation. Tynedale Council is pleased to provide support and funding."

Green Box has now established a sound track record, and staff are now keen to hear from any other businesses which could use their service.
