Joe Kinnear presents coach to Hexham school
Newcastle United boss Joe Kinnear has presented a Hexham school with a Sunshine coach.
The manager handed over the keys to the charity coaches to teachers and children from Hexham Priory School, as well as one to Hebburn Comprehensive in South Tyneside, during a club training session yesterday.
The cash for the coaches was raised by the northern branch of the Variety Club, which helps sick and disadvantaged children.
Chairman Bob Gladwin said the Newcastle boss was "on top form".
Mr Gladwin said: "He was superb, he was great with the kids and very generous with his time and we ended up celebrating the six-month contract as well as the donations.
"We raise a lot of money each year which stays in the area and makes a big impact. So as a fund raiser it is always nice to see where the money goes and to see the help the charity can provide."
Hebburn Comprehensive school spokeswoman Val McGregor said the coach would help teachers offer more activities to pupils.
She said: "It means our pupils can take advantage of a full and broad selection of education events and be able to attend many more outside activities."
