Tynedale 16, Blackheath 15
TYNEDALE were pushed all the way but secured their 28th home win in a row 16-15 against Blackheath.
The wet and windy conditions meant the match wasn't a classic, but there was plenty of excitement as well as three yellow cards and 25 penalties in the opening 40 minutes alone.
It was a winning return to action for Tynedale skipper Jamie Murray, playing his first game in over a year after undergoing knee surgery. But it was Murray's younger brother Andrew who was the star of the day - thumping over a last-minute penalty to keep his side's proud home record intact.
Tynedale fell behind to a penalty before a a deft kick through by Gavin Beasley saw full-back Jack Smales touch down.
The visitors were soon back in front and went into the interval 9-5 up thanks to penalties. But four minutes into the second half, Tynedale went back in front as Jack Harrison skipped over and Murray took over kicking duties, to put Tynedale 13-9 ahead with 10 minutes left.
Back came Blackheath with two penalties to edge them in front, but then came Murray's moment of glory with a only minute of the match remaining.
