Hoyle set to make debut for Tynedale

James HoyleTYNEDALE are set to hand former Sale Shark and England Under-21 international James Hoyle a debut as they look to negotiate a tricky trip to Launceston.

Summer signing Hoyle, now 22, has been out for five weeks after sustaining an injury in pre-season but after coming through this week's training sessions unscathed, the former Newcastle Falcons winger is in line for his belated bow.

Hoyle's presence will add more pace from the wing, where speedy loan man Danny Williams is in line for a second start after making a scoring debut against Wharfedale.

Tyne's director of rugby John Shotton says that Hoyle is an exciting prospect - and is looking for further improvement from Falcons winger Williams, who has been loaned out to Tynedale after crossing codes in the summer.

"James is an exciting player and with him and Danny Williams on the wing it should give us plenty of pace and speed. But James just hasn't had the rugby over the past two years and he needs a sustained run of games without getting injured," he said.

"Danny was okay on his debut but he still looks a bit green. We've got an excellent backs coach in Tom Borthwick and there won't be a better place for him to learn his trade in the game than Tynedale. We had a good win last weekend and we're going to Launceston looking to follow that up."

While things look promising on the wing, Tynedale have problems at loose head prop where three injuries have left them short of a specialist to fill the role. Jonny Williams and Douglas Jupp are injured, while Peter Southern is unavailable because of work commitments.

Greg Irvin continues at No 8 after making a solid return following a knee injury, but Peter Cole will miss out again with an ankle injury.
