Artist reflects on town's population for abbey festival
THE FACES of more than 200 people have been projected onto a wall inside Hexham Abbey.
Bradford-based artist Carolyn Mendelsohn spent 28 hours filming on the streets of the Northumberland town, asking people to pose in front of a video camera.

And after editing the footage down to 14 minutes it will now be projected onto the wall in the Treasury Room of Hexham Abbey.
Carolyn, who studied art at Northumbria University, said: "It's quite a powerful piece. You have these big faces and it captures their emotions.
"I wanted to capture as many faces as possible in order to represent the town in a different way."
Music from Romanian artist Adina Spire and North East performer Graham Coatman accompany the distinctive video.
The piece kicked off the Hexham Abbey Festival, which started yesterday and runs until October 4, and offers a range of music from classical to jazz and folk.
Performing artists include the Acoustic Triangle and Sacconi Strings, as well as teenage singer-songwriter Laura-Jayne Hunter who won the 2008 Bright Young Things competition.
